Beasts and Monsters
The line between animals from beasts and sprites from monsters often seems oftentimes seems blurred, but, in reality, the distinction is quite clear. Any animal or sprite that views sapiens as prey is considered a beast or monster. The collection of these entries were much more difficult than all of the previous collections combined. There was many a time that I very nearly lost my life during this portion of my research, so I truly hope everyone reading this collection enjoys my documentation of these incredible creatures as much as I enjoyed researching them.
Beasts
Beasts are any animal who views sapiens as prey (or food.) The only two exceptions to this rule is the Polar Bear, who are considered beasts despite the fact that Unswaldans have domesticated them on a widescale basis and Giants, who, despite being herbivores, are considered beasts due to their extremely high threat level towards humans.
Monsters
Monsters are similar to beasts in the sense that they view humans as prey, but they are different because they are like sprites in that they naturally generate mana and can focus it for their use. To put to most simply, you can imagine a chart with a vertical and horizontal axis. On each axis there's two sections that go from "generates mana" and "does not generate mana" on the vertical and on the horizontal, you would have "views humans as prey" and "does not view humans as prey." In my mind that would be the simplest way to explain the difference between animals, sprites, beasts and monsters.
Sins of god
I will admit, I love animals. This much is no secret. Even beasts and monsters, who are commonly reviled by humans, I can always find something wonderful to say about these incredible creatures... that is, except for the ones found in this edition. The entities commonly called the "Sins of God" are something that should not exist. Whatever higher power or god is responsible for their creation cannot be all good, as something good would not sin in the way to craft such wretched abominations.
